What you see and know as Amat Victoria Curam Designs (AVCD) today is not what we were initially. As we evolved, the appropriate changes were made; some products were added and some subtracted. Join me as I share our exciting story with you.
Amat Victoria Curam Designs (AVCD), Latin for “victory loves careful preparation,” was registered in Trinidad and Tobago in October of 2019 after about a year and a half of being in business. Why that particular business name you might ask? As a teenager, I encountered the quote and its meaning resonated with me. I adopted it as my personal motto and even used it as my name on social media platforms for some time.
With a lifelong love and passion for art, craft, and literature, delving into such an industry was almost inevitable for me (Sherisse Alexander, C.E.O). Coupled with my desire to make gift-giving more meaningful and memorable, my first creations were handcrafted greeting cards. They were so well received that they inspired future sales.
Along the way, I collaborated with my mother to offer homemade bath and body soaps, and explored other ideas such as felt phone cases, beaded jewelry, and paper quilling. In 2020, the worsening of a serious medical condition forced me to leave my nine-to-five job and work from home. It was during this period of personal healing and transformation that the idea of AVCD as a business of purposeful creativity truly took form.
That same year, amidst the emotional strain of the pandemic, I was inspired to create what is now one of our most meaningful products—the Positivity Jars. Made using glass bottles, each jar is filled with affirmations and uplifting messages designed to support mental health, emotional resilience, and daily self-care practices. Seeing the amazing impact it had on friends and family encouraged me to offer them to a wider audience.
As my physical health continued to deteriorate and I became increasingly reliant on prescription medication, I knew I needed a more natural solution for pain management. Through dedicated research and experimenting with healing botanicals, I created the #Bare – Pain Relief Salve. This all-natural balm is made with anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric, cayenne, and black pepper and infused with essential oils like eucalyptus and lemongrass, known for their therapeutic and soothing properties. Today, it’s one of our top-selling products and a trusted companion for many dealing with chronic pain, joint discomfort, and inflammation.
